The National tonight!
November 3, 2005 – 11:55 amNatives of Cincinnati, Ohio turned-Brooklynites, The National are a band that focus on driving their audience to a frenzy through emotion, controled chaotic tempo swings, and an intimacy between each other that is rarely witnessed on any stage. Tonight, The National, touring in support of their fourth full-lentgh release Alligator, will be peforming in Hoboken, NJ at the indie-rock institution Maxwells. Formed in 1999, this Brooklyn quintet quit their full-time jobs to fulfill their lifelong dreams of sharing time with each other while creating expression that could bring them closer to one another. With Alligator, The National have finally mastered their songwriting potential and delivered a pop opus that leaves the listener begging for more. Their live shows are considered legendary and, to some extent, cathartic. It is a rarity that a band overflowing with such power and grace would be performing in a venue as intimate as Maxwells. This is an opportunity that should not be missed. Doors open at 9:00 P.M.
