Bar Review: Flute

Flute is a dimly lit, tightly packed champagne bar just north of Union Square on 20th. They have an extensive list of hundreds of champagnes and sparkling wines with a modest beer list (go for the Pacifico). There are couches all over the space and it really feels more like you are hanging out in someone’s living room than at a bar. The DJ on Saturdays spins a mellow mix but nothing too loud or obnoxious (or memorable for that matter). Flute is also very overpriced and do not go if you are on any type of reasonably tight budget. 1995 Dom Perignon is their signature bottle ($485) and what I would recommend for a special occasion when money is no object. Overall, a good place for a date or relaxing conversation for an upscale clientele.
